Riddell relinquishes the chip, Rinna makes history again
Champion Chip hangover? I think so! The JonBenéy Ramsy Open Memorial Championchip was restored and given to its rightful owner this afternoon, directly ahead of JBROMCC5. An obviously excited Riddell posed for photographs with his Chip. "Better late than never" he said, in what may go down as the quote of the year.
But shortly after the ceremony and parade, it was back to business, and Riddell was not up to the task. This most recent edition of the JonBenéy Ramsy Open Memorial was played at Lake Erie Metropark Golf Course in Brownstown Michigan, and similar to JBROMCC3 at Willow Metropark, it was Aaron Rinna's day. Riddell had the following to offer after relegation: "Naturally I will always be at a disadvantage at the T Rinna Signature Real Estate but I congratulate the current winner and look forward to returning the chip where it rightfully belongs." Honest and thoughtful words from the former champ. Very gracious in defeat.
However, upon finding out that the four hours, twenty minutes he held the Chip was a record for shortest time as defending champion, he was spotted screaming "Flags fly forever, mother scratchers!" in the parking lot. Safe to say he'll be ready for round six.
Official scores are listed below:
Aaron Rinna: 81
David Riddell: 88
David Willard: 89
David Bozynski: 97
David Riddell: 88
David Willard: 89
David Bozynski: 97
Congratulations again, Aaron! Victory must taste sweet!
